MATAR, Ginger - Age 88, of Grand Blanc, died May 26, 2017. Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Paul Episcopal Church 711 Saginaw St. Flint. The Reverend Dan Shied officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Episcopal Church Every Tuesday Lunch Ministry. Ginger was born April 16, 1929 in Sycamore, IL., the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Alta Mae (Wilkey) McDaniel. She married Russell J. Matar on October 8, 1954 in Decatur IL. Ginger was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, where she was active with the Every Tuesday Lunch Ministry. She enjoyed puzzles, sewing, cooking and baking. Ginger is survived by her husband, Russell; son, Russell Joseph Matar II of Illinois; daughter, TaMara (Mike) Oertel of Clarkston; grandchildren, Stefanie, Jaclyn, Phillip, Michael, and Genna; great grandchildren, Connor, Lydia, Zachary, Leslie Jane, and CC; brothers, Edward (Barbara) McDaniel of Fort Scott KS and Jerry (Wanda) McDaniel of Oblong, IL; sister, Anna Belle (Robert) Lambird of Newton, IL; cousin, Jane Prince of South Carolina; nephews, Tim Prince of Wisconsin and Steve Prince of New Jersey; and several other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert "Bob" McDaniel. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
