SUTKOWI, Walter - age 85, of Fenton, died June 20, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make a contribution to the charity of their choice. Walter was born June 14, 1932 in Mt. Forest, MI the son of Andrew and Katherine (Zagrobelny) Sutkowi. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. Walter retired from General Motors in 1981 and also owned a local business and worked in real estate. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Fenton VFW Post #3240, Fenton Chamber of Commerce. He also served as the President of the Fenton Square Merchants Association, coached baseball and played in Polka bands for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helen; children, Gary Sutkowi (Sue), Ken Sutkowi, Daniel Sutkowi (Anne), David Sutkowi (Tanya), Richard Sutkowi (Lynne), Michael Purzycki (Martha), Keith Purzycki (Joanne); 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Colleen Theresa Sutkowi; daughters, Roseanna Purzycki and Peggy Searight; brothers and sisters.
