Anna Himmelberger

March 31, 1920 — July 12, 2007

HIMMELBERGER, Anna E. -- Age 87, of Flint Township, died July 12, 2007. Services will be held 11 AM Monday July 30, at the Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N. McKinley, Flushing, Dr. James Black officiating. The family will recieve friends from 10 AM until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing Presbyterian Church. Anna was born March 31, 1920 in New York City. She graduated from Washington Irving High School and attended Brooklyn College graduating with a Math and Physics major. She joined the Army in 1942 and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. She married William Himmelberger at Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, on September 15, 1943. She was then assigned to the Airline Priority Office in Seattle, Washington, and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. After the war she lived briefly in Flint prior to moving to Detroit where she was in the banking business, rising to the rank of Credit Officer at Manufacturer's National Bank until her retirement in 1982. She was active in a number of civic affairs and organizations, including serving as president of both Detroit Zonta's and Business Women of Detroit. She is survived by: her husband, William; niece, Martha Hamp and husband Michael; sister-in-law, Dorothy Himmelberger; grandnephews, James, Jonathan, and Peter; grandniece, Mary Kang and husband Albert; as well as great-grandniece Isabelle Kang; and great-grandnephew, Andrew Kang.
