Arthur Chirich

August 18, 1914 — October 31, 2006

CHIRICH, Arthur- Age 92, of Flint, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Clarkston Specialty Nursing Home, Clarkston.  A private family graveside service will be held Thursday at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc.  Contributions may be made to Whaley Children Center, 1201 North Grand Traverse, Flint, MI 48503.  Arthur was born August 18, 1914 in Oconomowoc, WI, the son of Sam and Anna (Putnik) Chirich.  He married Madilene Bradow August 27, 1938 in Angola, IN and she preceded him in death in 1990.  He was a Flint Police Officer and received the Citation of Merit for saving a Flint boy from drowning in the Flint River Febraury 27, 1945, he also was honored by the Kiawanis Club with a framed scroll for his courage and bravery.  While serving on the Police Department he was a special agent on the Vice Squad and was also Flushing's Chief of Police in 1949.  He founded and owned Richfield Trailer Supply, Inc. which he later sold.  He was also the former owner of Richfield Trailer Park and Nightengale Estates.  He was a member of Genesee Lodge #174 F. & A.M., a charter and life member of the East Flint Optimist Club, a charter member of Genesee Mobile Home Association and a member of the Michigan Mobile Home Association.  He helped form the first chapter in the state for the Genesee County Mobile Homes and received a charter from the Michigan Mobile Home Association June 8, 1960.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing (he's had 4 hole in one's), playing cards and car rides.  Surviving are:  2 children, Douglas and wife Carol Chirich, Gloria and husband David Rivord; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Friend may share an online condolence or post a tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
