SHAW, Carleta Ione - age 79, of Swartz Creek, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at Brian's House in Davison. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Tuesday and 1-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association or Brian's House Hospice. Carleta was born April 28, 1929 in Fenton to Peter W. and Vera (Lawcock) Alexander. She married Percy B. Shaw on July 17, 1947 in Fenton. Carleta lived most of her life in Swartz Creek. Carleta took care of several children over the years. She was also well known for her homemade cinnamon bread and rolls. Surviving are children: Christine 'Tina' of Swartz Creek, Nancy of Swartz Creek, Cindy (Bruce) Dunton of Flint; daughter-in-law, Ginger Shaw; sister-in-law, Eloise Starkey of Fenton; grandson, Joshua Shaw (fiance Amanda Germain) of Swartz Creek; step-grandson, Bruce Dunton, Jr. of Utica; step-great-grandchildren, Logan, Cole and Karlee Dunton of Royal Oak. Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband Percy on February 16, 2008 and son, David on November 2, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Donald, Gerald, DeWayne, Robert, Beotta, Agatha and Joyce. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Drs. Hoda Zaki and C. Malde for their years of care. Also a special thank you to Brian's House Hospice for their care during the last few days.
