Charles Davis

March 21, 1940 — July 20, 2008

DAVIS, Charles Cavender - age 68, of Flint, died peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2008 with family by his side. A memorial mass will be celebrated 1 PM Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint with Fr. Timothy Nelson celebrant. The family will receive friends from 12 PM until the time of service Friday at the church. Mr. Davis was born March 21, 1940 in Butte, MT, the son of Charles C., Sr. and Aileen (Keane) Davis. He married JoAnn Kurtz on July 2, 1971 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Mr. Davis earned his PhD. in Organic Chemistry from Ohio State University. He was a professor at Kettering University (formerly, GMI) for 36 years. Mr. Davis served as the President of the Society of Plastics Engineers several times throughout his career. He was a train aficionado and enjoyed astronomy and organ music. Mr. Davis was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly by: his wife of 37 years, JoAnn; three sons, Chuck Davis and wife, Angie Uyham of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Mike Davis and Glory Ward of Kalamazoo, Dan Soloman and wife, Lisa of Livonia; two grandchildren, Ben Davis and Maddie Soloman; two sisters, Moira Davis and Grare Davis; many dear friends, also survive.
