Colleen AMON

AMON, Colleen - of Flint, age 86, went to the Lord September 8, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, September 12, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Deacon Wayne Corrion officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at the funeral homes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Colleen was born December 17, 1924 in Risco, Missouri to Herb and Mary Gibbs. She married Don Amon, August 6, 1948. She raised three children, Sandy (Larry Curtis), Rod (Marcia) and Jake. When not busy with the family, Colleen bowled on the Corunna Rd Hardware team. She also was a member of the Eastern Stars. She and Don and the family drove antique cars across the Mackinaw Bridge when it first opened. She had her own Hupmobile for many years. When younger, she was an avid hunter and fishing gal. She was a good mother, and taught those around her manners and how to be a good host. But if you asked, you got the truth at all times. Colleen and Don lived to travel, and they went many places, but their favorite was Briny Breezes, Florida. They had a winter home there for 40 years. Colleen loved the sun and just being around her friends there. Surviving are: sons, Rod (Marcia) Amon of Swartz Creek, Jake Amon of Marquette; her brother, Bobby Gibbs of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Lisa (Dave Witucki) of Swartz Creek; Kevin Bloss and Emily of Saginaw; great-grandchildren, Chad Witucki, Jared Witucki, Logan Bloss and Brennan Coles and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in by her parents, Herb and Mary Gibbs, her loving husband, Don, daughter, Sandra Curtis and granddaughter, Krissy Amon. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Hamilton House, McLaren Hospice and Hyde Park Memory Care for the love and care they provided Colleen in the last years and days of her life.
