ASBURY, Columbus "Lee", age 82, of Flint, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Interment to follow at Crestwood Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society. Lee was born April 27, 1929 in Wyanoke, West Virginia, the son of the late Columbus and Sarah (Brett) Asbury. He married Mary Horn in 1987 and she preceded him in death in 2009. Columbus was employed by General Motors as a forklift driver for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 326 and A.A.R.P. Surviving are his son, James Asbury (Linda) of Bristol, Virginia; grandson, Shane Asbury of AZ; step-children, Jimmie Morgan (Geri) of Prescott, Shelby Morgan (Barb) of Flint, Betty Goodrich (Bill) of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters, Dorothy Hayes of Florida, Irene Woodring of Fenton. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister. The family extends special thanks to caregiver, Marge Perez for her loving care and kindness.
