Dale ALDERSON

September 12, 1925 — July 4, 2011

ALDERSON, H. Dale, age 85, of Grand Blanc, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Genesys Convalescent Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint, Fr. Jim Eisele celebrant. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of Mass at church. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be Thursday 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. A vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marine Corp Disabled American Veterans. Dale was born in Flora, Illinois on September 12, 1925 to Clara and Harry Edgar Alderson. They moved to Flint where he attended Flint Schools. He excelled in football at Flint Central High School where he recieved All-City, All-Valley and All-State recognition. After football season ended, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he participated in the Pacific Campaign at Guam and Iwo Jima in the 3rd Marine Division. He was wounded on Iwo Jima and awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, he attended Eastern Michigan University where he excelled in football. He was awarded Bachelor and Master Degrees. Later he taught physical education and science at Whittier Junior High School and coached football at Flint Central. Dale thoroughly enjoyed working with youth and his success is legendary. His sales career followed as Regional Manager for Field Enterprises (World Book) where he won many sales awards. His career with the Kirby Company followed where his outstanding salesmanship continued with many awards also. He is survived by wife, Darline; daughters, Diane, Daphne (Dr. John Marcinizyn), Darla; grandsons, Daniel and Jacob Klinck; great nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Larry Ruhstorfer, Bill Snyder, Ed Kaleff, Dr. Jack Benkert and Chaplain Adam Doyle. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ray, Bert, Carl, Rachel and Dorothy. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
