SPOMER, Edwin - age 93, of Fenton Township, passed away on May 27, 2014 in Waynesville, NC. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, June 2, 2014 at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park Chapel, 35667 W. 8 Mile Road, Livonia. Reverend Jim Rolf will officiate followed by an Honor Guard Ceremony. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Charity of Choice. No flowers please. Mr. Spomer was born September 9, 1920 in Lincoln Nebraska, son of Lucas and Katherine Spomer. He was a graduate of McKenzie High School in Detroit where he became Detroit City All-Star. He was a veteran of US Army serving in WWII and was a life member of Fenton VFW Post 3243. Edwin was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Linden. He was an avid golfer and reader. He was an Elder in the Lutheran church, prior to retirement as owner and operator of the John Cooley Construction Company of Ferndale, Mi. While in Florida he helped with hurricane relief work. He enjoyed family times with big dinners that included his family and enjoyed all sports. Surviving are children: Maxine (David) Lenk, Edwin R. (Bonnie) Spomer, Claudia (William) Casio, Mark William Spomer; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Robert) Wagner.
