WARD, Farrand G., Lt Col, USAF Ret. - age 90, of Linden, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. A memorial service will be held 11AM Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Inurnment of cremated remains will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Farrand G. Ward Memorial Fund to be used for Armed Forces Charities. Mr. Ward was born July 15, 1917 in Detroit, the son of Percy R. and Bessie (Graham) Ward. He was a graduate of East Lansing High School and attended Michigan State Agricultural College. Mr. Ward married Jane L. Workmaster on March 9, 1946 at Mitchell Field in NY. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a commissioned officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Ward has resided in Linden since 1951. He was the General Manager of Miller Transportation Corporation. He attended Linden Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ward served as Past President for organizations including Spring Meadows Country Club, Linden Athletics Boosters, and the Traffic Club. He was the Former Mayor and past Councilman of the City of Linden. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and was an avid MSU fan. Surviving are: wife, Jane; daughter, Martie Lind of Linden; two grandchildren, Jason W. Lind of TX, Lisa and husband, Jeffrey Harris of Fenton; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Alex Harris; sister, Maxine Cox of Saginaw. He was preceded in death by: his parents and sister, Betty Boyko. The family offers special thanks to Dr. Robert Hamilton and RN Laura at Genesys Health Park.
