Sunday, Florian Carol (Niedzielski) - Age 95, of Flushing, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, August 9, 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Flint with long-time friend Father Anthony Majchrowski as celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Inurnment was held in New Calvary Mausoleum. Memorial contibutions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Florian was born August 6, 1912 in Flint, the son of Alexander E. Niedzielski and Amelia (Kitze) Niedzielski. He married Joan T. Zawislak on September 27, 1941 in Flint. She preceded him in death in February of 2006. They were married for 64 years. Florian was a resident of Flushing for 49 years and a member of St. Robert's Catholic Church in Flushing. He was a butcher for many years with the Abbott's Meat Market on Court Street and served as manager of the meat department of the Abbott's Market on Dupont St. He then began working at the Buick Motor Division in 1952 first as a clerk in the foundry and later as a suggestion coordinator. He retired from General Motors in 1974. During World War II, he worked at the Buick as well, serving in the metallurgical department. Florian was a member of the Knights of Cloumbus - Flushing Council, Polish National Alliance, St. Robert's Retirees, and Flushing Area Senior Citizens. He was an avid bowler and loved the Michigan Wolverines. Surviving are son, Dr. Robert F. Sunday and wife Cheryl (Sordyl) Sunday of Mt. Morris: three loving granddaughters: Marisha Anne Sunday of Lake Orion, Daria Amelia Sunday of Farmington Hills and Valaria Emelia Sunday of Flushing. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; son, Donald J. Sunday in 1994; brother Marion Raphael Niedzielski (Ralph Sunday); brother, Alexander Witold Niedzielski; brother, Celestine Niedzielski; sister, Julianna Olga (Niedzielski) Carol; and half-brothers, Casmir Niedzielski (Jack Sunday) and Stanley Niedzielski The family would like to thank the staff at Hyde Park Assisted Living Memory Impaired unit, the staff on the tenth floor of McLaren Hospital, and the wonderful care givers at Avalon Hospice for all of their efforts.
