MEER, Frank Caskey - age 83, of Fenton, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Pines of Lake Fenton. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Bosco Padamattummal celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held 12-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Macular Degeneration Research, Alzheimer's Association or the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Frank was born in Detroit, MI June 8, 1924 to parents Frank D. Meer and Pauline Mae Caskey. Frank's great-grandfather, Charles Caskey, Sr. was the architect for the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island in 1890. Frank worked for General Motors for over 40 years starting at Chevrolet Engineering Center in Warren, MI and retired from Buick City, Flint, MI in 1986. Frank was a genuine G.M. "Mustanger". He began his career as an hourly mechanic and retired an unclassified Director of Manufacturing Engineering. In 1957, Frank worked with Zora Arkus-Duntov as crew chief of the Design and Building Team for the first S.S. Corvette race car that raced in Sebring, FL. Frank owned his own boat company in St. Clair Shores, MI for a short time. He designed and built a boat to introduce the new Volvo Penta stern drive system. Frank married Bernice J. Peterson on December 9, 1942 in Detroit, MI. They moved to Fenton, MI in 1959 with their children, Judy, Dale and Jackie. Frank married Frances R. Boone, August 29, 1969 and they operated Frank's Candy Kitchen in Linden, MI for five years. Frank served on the Linden Village Council and was a member of The Automotive Society of Engineers; the Flint Power Squadron and a founding member of Spring Meadows. He is survived by his children: Judy (Don) Trevillian, Dale (Kathy) Meer, Jackie Koen Majewski; nine grandchildren, Jane (Paul) Guse, Dan (Sandra) Trevillian; Jean (Tim) Smeets, Jennifer (Bill) Laga, Timothy (Katrina) Meer, Matthew (Renea) Koen, Michael (Jenn) Koen, Andrew Majewski, Jessica Majewski; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Boice, Paula (Bobbie) Baker.
