LAWRENCE, George T. - Age 90, of Gaines, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor John Bailey officiating. Burial immediately following at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1-9 PM Sunday. A Masonic memorial service will be held at the funeral home 7 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to Shriner's Hospital for Children. George was born August 15, 1918 in Durand, the son of Thomas and Helen (Luce) Lawrence. He was a graduate of Gaines High School. He married Alma D. LaLonde January 18, 1941 in Gaines. George retired as President of Mikan Construction Company. He was a member of Gaines United Methodist Church. He was a member and past master of North Newburg Lodge #161 F. life member of Bay City Consistory; life member of Commandery #21 Knights Templar; life member of Royal Arch Masons #139; life member of Elf Khurafeh Shrine of Saginaw; member of Circus Park Shrine Club; past Patron and life member of Order of the Eastern Star Durand Chapter #244 and Fenton Shrine Club. He also was Gaines Township Supervisor from 1968 - 1976 and the President of the Gaines School Board. Surviving are: wife, Alma; 5 children, Linda and husband Robert Philleo of Hobe Sound, FL, Mary Ann and husband Roger Eastman of Gaines, Georgina and husband Forest Kallin of Gaines, Thomas and wife Maralyn Lawrence of Denver, CO, Richard and wife Mary Lawrence of Mohave, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
