Geraldine Herbst

Herbst, Geraldine E., age 74, of Swartz Creek, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at her residence. Funeral services will be 5:30 PM, Tuesday, August 28 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, with Chaplain David Knox of Visiting Nurses officiating.  Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Visiting Nurses Hospice, through Brian's House, Davison.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until service time Tuesday.  Geraldine was born in Flint, daughter of Arthur and Florence (Clement) Strong. She worked for A C Sparkplug for 19 years as a Floor Inspector, was a member of Local 651, and the Flint First Presbyterian Church.  Geraldine was preceded in death by husbands; Ermen Massie, Billie H. Ponder, Charles Herbst, daughter Janis Kay Ponder, and granddaughter, baby Sarah. Surviving are her children; daughters, Karen and husband Rod Densteadt of Flint, Irma Brasseur and fiancee Mike Hock of Kansas, sons, Bryce and wife Pam Ponder, Mike Phelps, and David and wife Debbie Phelps, all of Georgia, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; brothers, Dale Strong and David Strong and wife Mary, sisters; Nora Rich and husband George, Patricia Knoblock and a special thanks to Marjie Sue Strong.  Those desiring may share online condolences or post a tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
