Gordon Buerger

BUERGER, Gordon Lynn- age 88, of Flint Township, formerly of Swartz Creek and Theodore AL., died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at McLaren-Flint Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 5 at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, under the auspices of the Curtis Wolverton VFW Post # 3243. A funeral luncheon will follow at 4:30 PM at the American Legion, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the Honor Flight Network (www.honorflight.org\) Gordon was born August 24, 1926 in Lansing, the son of John and Cecil (Winn) Buerger. He married Barbara Barnett who preceded him in death in 1964. He then married Irene Jensen who preceded him in death in 2013. He retired as an electrician at GM Fisher Body, Coldwater Rd. He lived in Swartz Creek for many years then resided in Theodore, AL, returning to the Flint area recently. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. Gordon was a former member of the VFW Post # 4642 and a member of the Theodore, AL VFW Post # 4328. He was also a member of the Swartz Creek American Legion, the Cooties and Pup Tent # 32 of Fenton. He was a member of UAW Local 326. Gordon is survived by his son Gary and wife Pam Buerger of Fenton; daughters, Karin and husband Craig Bright of Swartz Creek, Jill and husband Tim Bunn of Montrose and Deborah and husband Larry Sain of Flushing; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; special friend, Janet Hooker. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Christopher Buerger, and brother, Dale. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
