Helen Marie HUBBARD

Hubbard, Helen Marie - Age 96, of Burton, died March 27, 2014 at Regency in Grand Blanc, Michigan. A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flin. Visitation will be held 10AM until time of service Saturday. Private interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the Genesee County Humane Society, G-3325 S. Dort Hwy, Burton, MI 48529. Helen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Josephine and Steve Lanyi. She married Earl E. Hubbard in 1937, he preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Hubbard worked at A.C. Spark Plug in Flint for several years when she left to join her husband Earl in 1943, while he was serving in the Air Force in Lincoln, Nebraska, until he was transferred to Guam. she was employed at Atherton Middle School in the cafeteria and retired after many years. Helen and Earl enjoyed their many friends in morning exercise classes at the YWCA. Helen loved gardening and working in her yard of 60 years. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her fierce independence and strength.Surviving are: brother, Victor (Judith) Lanyi; sister, Elizabeth LeClair; sister-in-law, Wanda Piper of Florida and Joanne Hubbard of Colorado; special nephews, Brian (Susan) Lanyi, John (Ruth) Hubbard, Lee (Gloria) Hubbard; niece Victoria Conquest; many other nieces and nephews and special friend Pam Van Waggoner. Helens family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to her physician, Dr. Sayal, MD., caregivers, Valerie, Cindy, and especially, dear niece Susan and Jessica and Karen at Regency.
