Herbert BONDARENKO

February 9, 1925 — April 4, 2012

BONDARENKO, Herbert - age 87, of Flint, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:30 PM Monday, April 9, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Saturday and from 12 PM until the time of service Monday at church. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice. Mr. Bondarenko was born February 9, 1925 in Buffalo, New York, the son of Sam and Sophie (Gorski) Bondarenko. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during WWII. He retired as a Sergeant for the City of Flint Police Department after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are: daughters, Louana and husband Scott Lawrence, Nancy and husband Lance Johnson; seven grandchildren, Ericson Johnson, Mason Johnson, Randalyn (Mike) Peterson, Jacqualyn (Kelsey) Tomyn, Jenalyn, Robert and Rachel Lawrence; five great-grandchildren, Kal, Darren, Jane, Trip and Reese. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Enid on March 9, 2008 and brother, Frank. Online condolences may be posted to the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
