Jacquelyn was born March 3, 1943 in Royal Oak the daughter of Alfred and Betty (Weeks) King. She graduated from Dondero High School, Royal Oak in 1961 and then married Larry E. Shafer in Royal Oak on May 12, 1962. Jacquelyn was a wonderful mother, taking part in her daughter's lives as much as possible. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and loved having the teenagers at her home. She enjoyed traveling with her husband; they visited Hawaii 5 times, ventured to New Zealand and spent a lot of time on the motorcycle traveling around the United States. She was diagnosed in 1983 with Multiple Sclerosis, but that did not slow her down, her spunky nature was her driving force; as she continued to ride the motorcycle and snowmobiles too. She was particularly proud to have successfully sold Stanley Products for many years and had been active in the family business, B & J Tool Co. It was important to Jacquelyn to be a girl- she had to have her nails and hair done each week, and she loved her jewelry! Jacquelyn was a caring and supportive wife, who dearly loved her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband and best friend for 45 years, Larry of Fenton; 2 daughters, Daphne Briley and husband Michael of Hendersonville, TN, Annette Miller and husband Don of Sterling Heights; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Mackenzie, and one more on the way; parents, Alfred and Betty King of Utica; 2 sisters, Bernice Brown and husband Doug of Howell, Jeri Deitz and husband Don of Lake Orion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Layne Briley. Those desiring may share online condolences or post a tribute at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
