John Dale

July 20, 1936 — August 11, 2008

DALE, John Henry, age 72, of Weidman, passed away August 11, 2008. Born July 20, 1936 in Flint the son of John and Florence (Keith) Dale. He graduated in Houghton Lake and lived there many years. He moved to Wolverine and finally resided in Weidman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and said his children were what made him most proud. John had many accomplishments in his lifetime. His final contribution was participating in a rapid autopsy at the University of Michigan where his cancer cells were extracted and will be studied around the world to further the fight against prostate cancer. The autopsy was performed by his physician, Kenneth Pienta, who in the last 3 years shared with John more knowledge, commitment and compassion then seemingly possible. The family will be eternally grateful for the care of Dr. Pienta and his assistant Nancy Egerer. Anyone wishing more information about cancer researcher the rapid autopsy program can call 734-647-3421. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ardith White and brother-in-law, Jim White. He is survived by his soul mate and best friend, Veronica Lee Dale of Lennon, son, Mark John Dale of Prudenville; two daughters, Laura Ann Dale of Houghton Lake and Tia Marie (Ian Hill) Dale of Davison; brother, Keith (Marcia) Dale of Weidman; sister, Joyce Verdun (Martens) of Houghton Lake and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weidman on August 23, 2008 at 2:00PM.
