Juanita Ward

October 13, 1936 — May 18, 2016

WARD, Juanita Joyce -- Age 79, of Flint, died May 18, 2016. A celebration of life will be held 3-5PM Saturday October 29, 2016 at 317 N. Seymour Rd., Flushing, Michigan 48433. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, Swartz Creek. Juanita (Joyce) was born October 13, 1936, in Omer, the daughter of Michael Alexander and Mamie Sarah (LeFavre) Kozlow. She worked for General Motors at AC Spark Plug for 37 years before retiring in 1992 as an Electronics Technician. Joyce loved her home inside and out. She was an avid gardener and from early spring to late fall you could find her outside, "digging in the dirt," in her beautiful, meticulously kept garden, which once had the honor of being on The Flint Garden Tour. She was a self-taught Jack of All Trades, building or tearing down walls, installing tile and stone and even doing her own electrical and plumbing work. She loved working on her home, often completely changing everything from paint to furnishings every few years. Friends often told her that her home should be in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Joyce also loved putting together the perfect outfit. She was always up on the latest styles and was always looking great. Mrs. Ward loved visiting with the children of the neighborhood often teaching them many things from gardening to crochet. She loved hearing them say, "Hey Joyce, are the peas ready yet?" Over the years, many often returned all grown up, just to visit with her. She loved that! She also dearly loved her 4 grand children and her great grandson. She is survived by son, George Ronald (Beth) Ward Jr, daughter, Tammie Lynn (Stewart) Brown; grandson, Nolan Ward; grand daughters, Addison Markva (Brown), Karina Brown and Hannah Ward; great grandson, Jaxon Royce Ward; sisters: Mabel Hess, Pat Bodine, Arlene Kozlow; brothers, Joseph Kozlow, Ronald Kozlow. Many nieces and nephews and many good friends including her gardening buddy Terrance, Sisters of the Heart Teresa Boomer and daughter Anne, Norma Webb and son Michael and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Marie Lail, Elizabeth Murtaugh, Virginia Trout, Carol Coon; brothers, Valentino Kozlow, Edward Kozlow, Donnie Kozlow, Lawrence Kozlow; son, Todd Michael Ward. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
