Juanita Wykes

Juanita B. Peacock Wykes -- of Gaines, died October 31, 2014 at Court Yard Manor, Flint. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Eric Johnson officiating. Burial at Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Tower MI. Visitation will be 10 AM until noon Monday with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 11:45 AM. Those desiring may make contributions to Order of the Eastern Star or Gaines United Methodist Church. Juanita was born in Onaway, MI on July 4, 1916, the daughter of Guy Henry and Katrina (Korikei) Morrison. She graduated from Onaway High School. She married Elvis Henry Peacock in 1936. Elvis (Al) died in 1972. She owned and operated Peacocks Cut Rate for 28 years. Juanita married Edward G. Wykes in 1976, he died in 1992. She was a member of the Gaines United Methodist Church. She was a member of Gaines Pedro Club and Gaines Community Club. Juanita was a past Matron of Huldah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Byron, was chosen as Star of the Year in 1994. She was the Editor of "Star News" for many years. She was President of Shiawassee County Order of the Eastern Star in 1955-1956. She was presented her gold certificate in 1998. She spent most of those 57 years an officer. Juanita was a past member of Genesee County Metropolitan Alliance and a Director of the Hamady House. Surviving are grandson, Henry Priest; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Brannon, Maci, Tarrin, Cullen, Violet; sister, Mary Jane Fitch of Alma; step-daughter, Ethel Mae Sandford; stepson, Gilbert (Patricia) Wykes of Gaines; many step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Connie Stuber; four sisters; two brothers; grandson; great-grandson.
