YOUNG, Lawrence L. "Larry" -- Age 72, of Flint, went home to be with the Lord July 10, 2007 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, July 13 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor J.D. Landis officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM - 12 Noon and 2-9 PM Thursday, and 10 AM until the time of service on Friday. The Circuit Singers from the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek will sing at 7 PM Thursday. Larry was born in Gladwin, MI on July  5, 1935. He married Lorraine Haggadone on May 8, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in West Branch. He retired from General Motors after 13 years and retired from the City of Flint, Data Processing Department after 24 years. He and his precious wife were able to spend 15 wonderful years of retirement doing the things they loved the most, traveling, playing golf, and playing table games with friends and family. Winters were spent with their Florida friends in Zephyr Hills. He was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek where he was deeply involved in many activities, including the Methodist Men, Choir, Circuit Singers, and the youth group. He was an avid golfer, participated in several golf leagues and even hit a hole-in-one. His family was of most importance to him and he was the light of their lives. He is survived by: his wife, Lorraine Young; mother-in-law, Thelma Haggadone; 4 children, Faron of Swartz Creek, Keith and wife Connie of Concord, MI, Bryon and wife Ellen of Pittsford, NY, Leanne and husband Dave Moore of Clarkston; treasured grandchildren Eric, Rose, Kyle, Todd, Tasha, LeEllen and fiance' Chris Despaw, Phillip, Nicholas, Emily Moore; great-grandchildren Kylie, Brayden; twin sister Laura and Lonnie Spillers of Linden; brother Jack and Pat of Tucson, AZ; many nieces, nephews, and too many good friends to list. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Pearl and Wilmer James and six siblings. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek Youth Group.
