Lena Whitten

WHITTEN, Lena Ovidale - Age 89, of Flint , died Sunday, May 22, 2016. Funeral services will be held 12PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Rich William officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 4PM - 8PM Tuesday and 10AM until time of service on Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the family. Lena was born on February 15, 1927 in Wayne County , Tennessee, the daughter of the late William J. and Annie C. (Martin) Burns. She married Vernon Whitten on September 6, 1942 in Wayne County TN, he preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Whitten enjoyed sewing, making dolls and kitchen towels. She was a devoted Christian, loved the Lord and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are: children, Jeanette Waldrop of Flint, Shelba Gilliland of Flint, Larry (Judy) Whitten of Indian River, Sandra Whitten of Flint; siblings, Dorothy Hensen of AL, Charles (Ruth Burns Jr. of TN, Waford Burns of AL, Alfred (Martha) Burns of TN, Noland (Linda) Burns TN, Anita (David) West of AL, Preston Burns of FL; numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren ; several great- great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lynn; grandson, Coy; great grandson William; daughter, Glenda; son, David; sister, Ruth and brother Clifton.
