SMITH, Leona A. - Age 97, of Bath, formerly of Fenton, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday, November 4 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, with Pastor Charles Hubbert officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of service Sunday. Interment 1 PM Monday, November 5 in Smith Hill Cemetery, Otisville. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Fenton Free Methodist Church. Miss Smith was born October 1, 1915 in Otisville, the daughter of Harry E. and Maggie M. (Williams) Smith. She worked as an elementary school teacher, primarily teaching Kindergarten at rural schools, Lake Orion Schools, and Ortonville Schools. She retired in 1975 after 39 years of service. Miss Smith was a member of the Fenton Free Methodist Church, and the Pontiac Area Association of Retired School Personnel. She was very creative and her family looked forward to her creative endeavors every year. She was the creator of special occasion cakes, often humorous, for her entire family. Every Christmas the girls enjoyed her gifts of knitting, and the guys her gifts of jams and jellies. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Doug Smith, Beth Smith, Ken and Dianna Smith, Don and Marcia Smith, Kathy and John Wever; great-nephew and care-giver Greg Smith; many great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Dortha Smith and Thelma Dean; and brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Eva Smith.
