MARKOVICH, Marco, age 84, of Fenton, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church, 10235 White Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor James Mascow officiating. The family will receive friends from 9AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow in Cowell Cemetery, Tyrone Township. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8PM and Friday 2-8PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Tyrone Covenant Presbyterian Church. Marco was born July 20, 1923 in Ironwood, Michigan the son of Emil and Katherine (Veiher) Markovich. He married Thelma Blacksmith on April 12, 1947 in Detroit and she preceded him in death on December 26, 1993. Marco graduated from high school in Ironwood and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII where he earned a Purple Heart. After his military service, Marco attended trade school learning the art of cabinet making. He was employed by McCausey Lumber in Detroit for 15 years until retirement in 1980. Surviving are his son, Mark Markovich (JoEllen) of Fenton; 6 grandchildren, Karen (Bristo) Esper (Chris), Nancy (Bristo) Welter (George), Marco, Katie, Tucker and McKenzie Markovich; 3 great-grandchildren, Ralea, Zackary and Catherine Esper; 3 sisters, Margaret Markovich, Kathryn Koprivec (Peter) and Helen DelZappo; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Marcia Bristo. The family extends heartfelt thanks the staff of Visiting Nurses Hospice, Becky Peraz of Alternative Elderly Care and the nurses at McLaren Hospital for the loving care they provided.
