Margaret Cornillie

CORNILLIE, Margaret Mary - Age 96, of Byron, passed away on May 2, 2014. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, May 5, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday, with a Rosary at 7:30 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden and from 9:30 AM until time of Mass Monday at church. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Mercy Hospice. Mrs. Cornillie was born in Detroit on January 24, 1918 to Julius and Mary (VandenBrouche) De Hondt. She married Julius Cornillie on February 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1998. Margaret loved to read, work on the farm beside her husband, sew, bake and garden. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a 4-H Leader for 25 years. Margaret is survived by 3 children; James (Carolyn), Rosanne (Tom) Bloomer, Charles (Carolyn); granddaughters, Mara and Willa; grandsons, Matthew and Jacob; brother, Lawrence DeHondt; sisters, Madelyn Martin and Elsie Delmotte. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius; sisters, Marion and Evelyn; and brothers, Ray, Clarence and Julian.
