Maria Sklena

SKLENA, Maria - Age 92, of Flint, died September 10, 2014. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 AM Monday September 15 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint, Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Saturday, and 1- 5 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, where a rosary will be prayed at 5PM Sunday. Visitation will be 10:30 AM until time of service at the church Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Pius Catholic Church. Maria was born May 29, 1922 in Yugoslavia the daughter of Phillip and Magdalana (Feathermann) Dautermann. Maria has been in the Flint area since 1956, coming from Austria. She worked as a Ward Helper at McLaren Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, the 50 and Up Club, the Alter Society and she volunteered at the soup kitchen. She married Anton Sklena in 1941 in Yugoslavia, he preceded her in death in 1982, they were blessed with 4 children, Leopold (Linda) Sklena, Tony (deceased), Maria (Denny) Green, Katy Sklena; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
