NELSON, Martha L. - age 78, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at her residence. A Memorial service will be held 11 AM Monday, June 16, 2008 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 6380 Beecher Rd., Flint with Rev. Steven M. Lockman and Rev. Richard Starr co-officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10 AM until the time of service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Emanuel Lutheran Church or The Valley Area Agency on Aging, 225 E. 5th St., Suite 200, Flint, MI. Martha was born December 9, 1929 in Swartz Creek, the daughter of Louis D. and Mildred Mae (Ketzler) Baker. She married Curvin John Nelson on October 22, 1949. Surviving are: husband, Curvin; four children, Christina (David) Scharrer, Mark (Cynthia) Nelson, Rebecca 'Becki' (Jeff) Miller, Deborah (Larry) Sachs; 10 grandchildren, David (Jami) Scharrer, Jr., Amy (Matt) Moeller, Michael (Brooke) Scharrer, Stephanie Miller, Jeffery and Todd Sutton, Leanne Miller, Daniel Miller, Kimberley (Stan) Zondervan, Emily (Jeremy) VanVeelen, Bethany and Bonnie Whittaker; 13 great-grandchildren, David 'Tripp' Scharrer, Jacob, Megan, and Kate Moeller, Caleb Scharrer, Rebecca and Jessica Markley, Jeffery Draper, Nicholas, Brooklyn and Jasmine Sutton, Luke Zondervan, Leah and Lauren VanVeelen; siblings, Berneda Baker, Leon Baker; many nieces and nephews.
