KOWALCYK, Mary Ellen - age 85, of Flint, died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Genesys Hospice Care Center. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Brostol Rd., Burton with Fr. Gary McInnis celebrant. Entombment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery Masouleum. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint where a vigil service will be held 7 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Genesys Hospice. Mary Ellen was born November 6, 1921 in Canada, the daughter of Victor L. and Grace M. (Anderson) Goyette. She married Benjamin Kowalcyk on January 11, 1947 in Flint. Mary Ellen was employed by the State of Michigan in Unemployement Compensation. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family at the cottage in Oscoda. Mary Ellen had a great sense of humor and was an avid Pistons fan. Surviving are: husband, Ben Kowalcyk of Flint; son, Gerard Kowalcyk of Flint; four grandchildren, Kristie and husband, Fidel Carino of Fenton, Nicole and husband, Tim Jones of Grand Blanc, Emily Kowalcyk and fiance, Michael Chuff of Flint, Benjamin Kowalcyk of Flint; five great-grandchildren, Addisen, Madeline, Kendall, Fidel and Aidan; sister, Patricia and husband, Paul Stock of Lapeer; sister-in-law, Jenny Prehoda; several nieces and nephews.
