Norma Kirkland

KIRKLAND, Norma Kay (Alberts) - Age 65, of Rives Junction, formerly of Fenton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2015. Norma was born March 31, 1950, to Earl and Beth Alberts of Fenton. She married Donald Kirkland on October 3, 1970, and faithfully supported his ministry as a Pastor throughout their marriage. Together, they ministered at Community Bible Church in Brighton, Perry Baptist Church in Perry, Immanuel Baptist Church in Saginaw, Colonial Village Baptist Church in Lansing, and Fellowship Bible Church in Hartland. Norma was a devoted mother to their three children, Melissa, Amy, and Matthew. After her children were grown, she worked part-time caring for infants in the Hartland Child Care Center. Upon her husband's retirement, the couple moved to Rives Junction, where Norma served as an administrative assistant at Youth Haven, an outreach to disadvantaged children. She also lovingly cared for Don in his last years of life. She joined him in Heaven after a brief battle with ALS. Norma was a nurturing soul with a sweet disposition and was loved by many. She is survived by her children, Melissa (Doug) LaVoie, Amy (Lars) Carlson, and Matthew (Wendy) Kirkland; seven grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and her eldest sister. Funeral Services will be held 11AM Tuesday May 26, 2015 at Fellowship Bible Church, 2500 Hartland Road, Hartland. Burial will follow in Sanford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of Service.
