SAPIANO, Paul Anthony - Age 92, of Fenton, died Tuesday, September 30. 2014. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial in Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery, Brownstown Township. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, Friday from 2-8 PM and at church Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. A rosary will be prayed 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Knight of Columbus memorial service at 7:30 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Vincent de Paul. Paul was born February 13, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada the son of Peter and Domenica (Gauci) Sapiano. He was a graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Detroit. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Clara Foley December 28, 1968 in Fenton and she preceded him in death April 23, 2002. Paul owned and operated a grocery store for many years, he then worked as a buyer for Frank's Nursery and Crafts; he also was a real estate investor. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Usher's Club. He also was a member of the Fenton Knights of Columbus Council #7418, Fenton Assembly #2031, American Legion James Dewitt Post #38, and was a life member of the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. Surviving are: brother, Charles and wife Patricia Sapiano of Florida; sisters-in-law, Florence Nagy, Sandy Foley, and Norma Foley all of Fenton; brother-in-law, Max and wife Mari Ann Foley of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Grech; and brother, John Sapiano. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
