Robert SMITH

SMITH, Robert Edwin, age 79, of Fenton, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be 11:00a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy St., Fenton. Pastor William Donahue officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00a.m. Wednesday until time of service at church. Visitation will be Tuesday 1-4 and 6-9PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Memorial donations may be made to Adopt-A-Pet of Fenton or Munson Medical Center Cancer Unit. Robert was born September 5, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Edwin and Hilda (Eulert) Smith. He married Carole Rothenberger on June 24, 1955 in East Cleveland, Ohio. Robert had lived in the Fenton area for the last 18 years and was a member of the Fenton United Methodist Church, Flushing United Methodist Church and the Fenton and Flushing Lions Clubs. Robert was also was active with International Student Program from the University of Michigan. He enjoyed golfing, camping, gardening, bowling and traveling. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carole; children, David Smith (Pam) of Billings, Montana, Barbara Ballard (Ron) of Flushing, Linda Johnson (Jeff) of Flushing, Scott Smith of Traverse City; 7 grandchildren, Kyle, Holly, Laura, Ron II, Leah, Spencer and Pierce; 2 great-grandchildren, Chase and Landon.
