LaFAVE, Rod - age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Rod passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Davison. There will be a memorial service held at 12:00 PM Saturday, July 20 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 Mt. Morris Road, Otisville, to celebrate Rod's life. There will be a dinner to follow. Rod was born in Flint on January 24, 1930, the son of Roddy and Laura (Sawyer) LaFave. He married Joan Niles LaFave on January 29, 1949. They have 4 children , Deborah and husband John Pauley, Randy and wife Ronda LaFave, Jill and husband Doug Moore, and Kim LaFave. They have six loving grandchildren, Amy (Cory), Jennifer (Kevin), Nick (Amy), Zach (Keri), Josh (Abby), and his sweet Chloe. They have seven beautiful great grandchildren, Hannah, Emmalee, Ethan, Keegan, Nola, Karson and Iris. Rod owned LaFave Decorators and Son for over 30 years. Rod and Joan were married for 64 years and spent 20 years wintering in Florida. Rod loved hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends at his log cabin on George Lake. Rod leaves a sister, Velma (Frank) Ratza and brother, Don LaFave. Special relatives, Dale Niles and family, Gary Niles and family, Carol Cromwell and family, Dan Niles and family; very close dear friends, Tim and Audrey Betts and family. Joan (mom) would like to thank her children for all their kind, loving help during their dad's illness. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Swamy for her wonderful care of Rod over the years, Dr. Peram and Dee, all the hospice team, especially, Mary Johns, Dave, Diane, Mary and Michelle, Pastors Alan and Jan Duce, Pastor Clarence for many hours of visiting and praying with Rod. Also, Rod's brother-in-laws, Gary, Dale and Dan for all the great hunting and fishing trips. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard LaFave, his wife's parents, Ron and Maxine Niles. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Richfield Church of the Nazarene or Hospice. Besides being a great dad, fun grandpa and loving husband, Rod was an amazing man!
