CHERUP, Rose L. -- Age 98, of Fenton, died December 20, 2007 at Tanglewood. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 27 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton.(1/2 Mile east of US-23, off Exit 79), Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery,Detroit. Family will recieve friends at the funeral home from 7-9 PM Tuesday, and 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday. Rose was born October 26, 1909 in Pennsylvania. She lived in Northwest Detroit most of her life, moving to her son's home in Fenton, 1984. She was married to Joseph Cherup Sr., who preceded her in death, July,1955. Rose was an accomplished chef after Mr. Cherup's passing. She was employed by many notable restaurants in the Dtroit area, such as Hudson's Northland, Bell Telephone, Creiger Catering and for her son and his partner Gary Kerr at the Trade Winds Lounge. She was noted for being the best Russian cook at the Danish Hall. Rose loved her garden and flowers.Surviving are, two children, Joseph Cherup Jr. of Fenton, Delores C. Barnstead of Oakland City,IN. four grandchildren, John, Joseph and Patti Barnstead and Rose Newburry.five great-grandchildren, Alex, Ming, and Ian Barnstead, Robert and Ben Newburry.Friends may share an online condolence with the family on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
