Rose Smigiel

SMIGIEL, Rose - Age 89, of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, March 8, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton Wednesday from 4-8 PM and at church Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or Adopt-A-Pet. Rose was born December 27, 1925 in Flint the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Slezak) Santa. She married Eugene John Smigiel May 24, 1947 in Flint. She was a 1942 graduate of Flint Central High School. Rose had resided in the Flint area her entire life. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Adopt-A-Pet and was active at Sacred Heart for many years. Rose also enjoyed cooking and enjoyed dancing well into her late 70's. Surviving are: her husband of 67 years, Eugene "Oscar"; 3 children, Elaine and husband Larry Skindzier of Lake Mary, FL, Tim and wife Georgeann Smigiel of Canfield, OH, and Dominee and husband Scott Robinson of Swartz Creek; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 7 sisters, Frances, Mary, Eline, Grace, Helen, Katie, and Anna; and 4 brothers, John, Joe, Jim and Victor.
