Russell SHAY

SHAY, Russell C. - Age 94, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, November 29, 2013. Services will be held 1 PM, Friday December 6, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Chaplain Hank Messing officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service. Burial immediately following in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project. Mr. Shay was born October 19, 1919 in East Jordan, MI, the son of Earl and Caroline (Baker) Shay. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Lois E. Rau May 31, 1941 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Flint and she preceded him in death on January 16, 1998. Mr. Shay retired in 1980 from GM Fisher Body Grand Blanc after 28 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and Veteran's Club. Surviving are: 5 children, Sandra and husband Mike Costello of Barryton, Marlene Davis of Holly, Charles Shay of Durand, Patricia and husband Dan Monroe of Swartz Creek, and Michael and wife Susie Shay of Durand; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Margaret, daughter-in-law, Daralee Shay, and son-in-law, Clinton Wray.
