Russell Walworth

WALWORTH, Russell -- age 83, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Flint, died in Sarasota, Thursday September 21, 2006.  Russell was born in Flint on February 21, 1923 the son of Charles and Effie (Blair) Walworth and has lived in the Flint area most of his life where he graduated from Flint Central High School.  He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 including time with the European Theatre Operations.  He was a tinsmith with A.C. Spark Plug Division retiring in 1976 after 30 years.  He was a member of the Davison Post 4087 V.F.W. and the Disabled American Veterans.  Russell also was a member of the Big Brothers of Flint and was a Sgt. with the Flint Police Reserves, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the B.P.O.E and played in the A.C. Spark Plug Concert Band.  Surviving are 2 sons; David Walworth of Sarasota, Florida and Phillip (Karen) Walworth of Grand Blanc and a daughter, April (Doug) Thibaut of Swartz Creek.  Also surviving are 3 grandsons;  Eric, Brad and Kyle Thibaut; a sister, Marjorie Stone of Springfield, Virginia and 2 brothers; Gerald (Helen) Walworth of Winter Haven, Florida, Marvin (Mary) Walworth of Flushing and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd.  (Just South of Hill Rd.).  Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions are being accepted for Big Brothers of Flint. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Duane, Lloyd and Lavern and former wife Kathleen.
