SHEKOSKI, Stella, age 87, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Fenton, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Fenton Health Care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. The family will receive friends 10:00a.m. Saturday until time of Mass at the church. Burial in St. John Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be 12:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or Powers High School. Stella was born May 8, 1924 in Hamtramck, MI the daughter of the late Stanley and Anne (Kwiatowski) Puszcz. She married Edward W. Shekoski on February 15, 1947 in Hamtramck and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1993. During her early 20's, Stella was employed at the Dodge Factory in Hamtramck, and with her husband, owned and operated the Alimony Bar, Hamtramck. After moving to the Fenton area in 1976, Stella and Edward owned and operated Eddie's Marina for 18 years. Stella was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. She listened to the games on the radio and watched every game on television, with the schedule on her nightstand. She made crocheted tablecloths and afghans each year for the raffle at the St. John's Applefest. Stella was a devout Catholic, faithful to her morning and evening prayers, and recited the daily rosary. Surviving are her 5 children, Mary Ann Miller of Flint, Robert Shekoski (Carol) of Utica, Barbara Shekoski (Dick Roberts) of Roseville, Katie Gorski of Roseville, Dina Cunningham (John) of Grand Blanc; 9 grandchildren, Gene (Diana), Ken, Daniel, Robert, Cindy, Scott, Shaun, LeAnn, Nick; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorraine Shekoski of Sterling Heights; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Edward and 6 brothers. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Avalon Hospice.
