WOOD, Thomas A. - age 80 of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his residence. Services will be held 11AM Friday, February 8, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Delbert Granger officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 5:30-8PM Thursday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angel Prayer Shawl Group. Mr. Wood was born March 12, 1932 in Flint, the son of the late Alfie and Irene (Cockrill) Wood. He married Virginia Lee Dennis on May 26, 1956 in Flint and she preceded him in death May 13, 2008. Mr. Wood retired from General Motors Plant 38 as a machinist and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of Swartz Creek Lodge F & AM, the Bay City Consistory and a lifetime member of the Elf Kurafeh Shrine. Tom had many hobbies, he enjoyed antique restoration, metal detecting, hunting, and helping others, he was very generous with his time. He was a member of the Grand Blanc High School Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed spending a lot of time with his grandsons. Surviving are: daughters; Kimberly (Daniel) Mancillas of Swartz Creek, Kathleen Wood of South Lyon; grandsons, Army Sgt. Brighton Mancillas, stationed in Germany, Airman E2 Connor Mancillas, stationed in New Mexico; sister Patricia Wilber and niece Carrie (Glen) Schwartz all of Harrisville MI.Special thanks to "third daughter" Paula Rock and very close family friend, Sue Robbins.
