SLATER, William Joseph - Age 88 of Linden, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Tuesday, June 12 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be 11 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Children's Lukemia Foundation. Mr. Slater was born August 28, 1918 in Blaine, Ohio and married Eleanora Pruszynski on April 15, 1944. He came to Detroit, Michigan in 1942 and was employed by U.S. Lake Survey where he retired in 1973. Mr. Slater was a hard worker. He ran a machine shop in his backyard making tools with his sons, and was a watch repairman. He is survived by his wife, Eleanora; son, William and wife Gwen Slater of Woodhaven; daughter-in-law, Linda Slater of Fenton; 5 grandchildren, William A. and wife Heather Slater of Kingsley, Bonnie and husband Art Murray of Alma, Jason and wife Lorrie Slater of Fenton, Brian and wife Heather Slater of Fenton, Michael Slater and fiance Michelle of Fenton; 7 great-grandchildren, Artie, Donovan, Megan, Jacob, Tyler, Shelby, Eric; brother, Alex Slater of Garden City; niece, Joanne and husband John Janyk of Toronto; nephews, Tony Slater and David Slater of Garden City.
