CARTER, Phyllis Ann - Age 93, of Flint, our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, entered into Heaven peacefully on January 15th, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Friday February 7th at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, 515 Bush Ave, Grand Blanc, MI with Rev. Julius Del Pino officiating. Visitation will also take place at the church from 10 am until the time of service. A luncheon will take place after the service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to C.A.R.E. (Citizens for Animal Rescue and Emergency) or Grand Blanc United Methodist Church.
Phyllis was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Bumke. Phyllis completed her RN nursing degree at U of M Hospital. It was at U of M, she would meet the love of her life, Robert. The two were married September 25, 1948 in Ypsilanti. They started a loving family together in Flint. Phyllis worked as a RN, 20 years at McLaren hospital and 20 more years as a volunteer at the hospital. She loved animals and helped found C.A.R.E., to help rescue animals in the Flint area. She was a lifelong board member. She was also a proud member of Marriage Encounter.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Kathrine A. (Michael) Persich, Richard A. (Marta) Carter, George Christian Carter, and John P. Carter; grandchildren; Andrew Bess, Melinda Grant, Ashley Rayman, Oliver Carter, Nicole Carter; Vanessa Anderson and Margaret Klug; 11 great-grandchildren with 1 more soon on the way.
