Richard "Rick" Michael Ward.- age 74 of Mt. Morris, lost his battle with leukemia on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor surrounded by his family. Memorial service will take place at 6 PM, Monday, January 13, 2020, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 5 PM Monday until the time of the service. He served in the United States Army Special Forces (Green Beret). He was awarded many honors to include: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Badge (Rifle M-14), and Vietnamese Interpreter Award. He retired after working 44 years as a millwright for General Motors. He absolutely loved playing golf and he was rarely found without his iPad or Words with Friends App. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch surrounded by his beloved dogs, Molly and Maggie. He was a avid reader, always sharp as a tack and could complete any crossword puzzle in a few minutes. He will always be remembered for saying "well if you didn't want to know the truth don't ask me."
He leaves behind a loving wife, Linda Ward; 4 daughters, Marci Ward-Kubik, Tracey Ward, Tonya Rock and Shanna Olsovsky; 7 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Brad Collins and Terry Everman; sister-in-law, Shiela Smith.
His son, Eric Ward, greeted him as he walked through the Pearly Gates of Heaven where he will now have no pain or sorrow.
