Obituary for Carmen Arlene Misner

Misner, Carmen Arlene - Age 76, of Flint, died November 3, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Flint, Mi. She will be interred next to her husband, Earl at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Date and time of both services will be announced later.

Carmen was born August 24, 1942 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Rev. Emeral Everett and Norma Arlene (Raymer) Price. She married Earl Misner in Mt. Pleasant on August 14, 1965.
Carmen was proud of her Native American heritage and actively helped serve the Native community throughout Michigan. She worked with the United Methodist Indian Mission churches throughout the state and across church conferences.

Carmen was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She served the congregation as both lay leader and lay speaker. In addition, she served the United Methodist Church as a whole, attending various conferences and committees throughout the state and country.

One of the accomplishments serving the church that she was most proud of brought together her love for the Native community and her love of her faith. She worked tirelessly to help enable Native members of the United Methodist Church in Michigan to become lay speakers and lay leaders for their congregation and to pursue being ordained as ministers if they were called to serve.

In her free time she enjoyed reading, antiques, garage sales, shopping, and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She also was active, along with her husband and children, in the Flint Olympian Games and CANUSA Games for several years.

Carmen is survived by her sons: Michael Misner of Flint, Jonathan Misner of Flint; nephews: Todd (Sarah) Price, Jeff Price; nieces: Cheryl (Brent) Hamelink, Lesa Price (Larry) Betz. She was preceded in death by her husband: Earl; and brother: David. Online condolences may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
