SHELLEY, A.G., Jr. - Age 96, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 8, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed here on this page below Mr. Shelley's obituary.). Pastor Jason McGhee officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to South Flint Tabernacle or Genesee County Humane Society.
A.G. was born April 2, 1928 in Flint, the son of A.G., Sr. and Iva (Draper) Shelley. He was a 1946 graduate of Flint Central High School; and attended Mott Community College and G.M.I. while working at Buick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Katherine E. Hilden July 26, 1947 in Flint; and she preceded him in death May 11, 2023. A.G. had resided in Flint his entire life; and wintered in Zephyrhills, FL since 1979. He retired from GM Buick Motor Division after 38 years of service. He was a member of O.E.S. Flint Chapter #138, life member of Flushing Masonic Lodge #223, Life member of the Bay City Scottish Rite Consistory, life member of Oasis Shrine Club and Elf Khurafeh Shriners, working the Shrine Circus for over 25 years. He raced motorcycles on the road race circuit from 1953-1971 in Michigan, Ohio, Canada, and Daytona Beach, FL. He enjoyed playing golf, going to the casinos with Katie, and cutting his 1/2 acre lawn on his John Deere tractor.
Surviving are: his daughters, Cynthia (Gary) Steinberg and Leslie Sedlak; grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Carpenter, Brett (Rachal) Hanner, Matthew (Emily) Sedlak, Tanya (David) Schmieder, Tina Steinberg and Carrie Sedlak; great grandchildren, Braydon Hanner, Brooklynne Hanner, Blake Hanner, M'Kenzie Hanner, Dominick A.G. Hanner, Kora Hanner, Tristyn Sedlak, Harper Shelley Sedlak, Matthew Boone, Morgan Boone, Cody Carpenter, Caelum Blair, Keegan Blair, Taeghan Blair, Travis Schmieder and Olivia Schmieder; great-great granddaughter, Raylynn Carpenter; brother, Leon "Billy" (June) Shelley; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Michael Sedlak; and sister, Marsha Matthews. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
