Alan Hitzelberger

HITZELBERGER, Alan Louis - Age 88, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, November 9, 2019.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM  Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goodrich, 7296 Gale Road, Goodrich.  Fr. Dave Howell and Deacon Ron Kenney con celebrating.  Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 12 PM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Catholic Charities.

Alan was born June 29, 1931 in Racine, WI, the son of William and Hilda (Sinrud) Hitzelberger.  He received a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering PE. He married Susan Mary Altenbach April 18, 1959 in Racine, WI.  Alan was an engineer for AC Spark Plug, then GM Tech Center in Warren at the Engineering Staff, working on turbine engines as Engineering Manager in the Allison Division.  He had 9 patents on the turbine engine components.  He had resided in Grand Blanc since 1964 coming from Flint/Racine, WI.  After retirement Alan was a volunteer fireman for the Fripp Island Fire Department in South Carolina.  He also enjoyed camping, traveling, photography, cars, snowmobiling, and he was a professional croquet player; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Susan; children, Mary (Rick) Daly of Grand Blanc, Michael Hitzelberger of Tennessee, Lisa Hitzelberger of Royal Oak, and Paul Hitzelberger of Royal Oak; grandchildren, Sita (Sameer) Baghwan, Ashu (Srishti) Mohey, Kayla Harper, Leela (Chris) Vasileff, and Collin Harper; great granddaughter, Makynli Harper; nephews, Richard (Debbie) Hitzelberger and Ron (Jane) Hitzelberger.
