Albert C. DARLINGTON

DARLINGTON, Al - Age 90, of Glen Arbor, Michigan, passed away at his home that he loved on Glen Lake on December 27, 2013. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Ellen Darlington, who passed away in 2009. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 7, 1923 to H.T. Darlington and Beulah Darlington. He was the third of four children. He attended East Lansing High School, Michigan State University, and Baldwin Wallace College. He served in WWII in the Navy as a part of the V-12 program. He taught chemistry at Kettering (formerly General Motors Institute) for 40 years (1956-1996). He had a passion for teaching, and loved to see his students succeed. He also had a passion for music, especially big band music, dixieland, and ragtime piano. He played the trumpet and standup bass. He and his wife Ellen had a dance band that played professionally in the Flint area for over 30 years. As a boy, Mr. Darlington spent many summers at Glen Lake in Michigan with his family. He later retired to the Glen Lake area. He is survived by a brother and sister, two sons, a daughter, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Frank and Bobbie Ditzler of Northport for their care provided to Mr. Darlington in the last few years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 13 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor William Bolin officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday, January 12th from 12-4 and 6-8 PM.
