NELSON, Albert W., age 90, of Swartz Creek, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Swank Home, Swartz Creek. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Friday, November 23, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Visitation will be 12:00PM Friday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Duffield Methodist Church. Albert was born September 12, 1922 in River Falls, Wisconsin the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Knight) Nelson. He married Mildred O. Gilbert on May 5, 1943 in Duffield Twp. and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2006. Albert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer by Chevrolet V-8 Plant for 30 years until his retirement in 1978. Albert was a member of American Legion Post #294, D.A.V. #63 and Duffield Methodist Church. Albert was active in the Boy Scouts for 15 years, earning the title of District Commissioner. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. Surviving are his sons, Ronald (Patricia) Nelson of Stafford, VA, Randy (Kathy) Nelson of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Matthew (Devorah) Nelson, Scott (Kaitlyn) Nelson; 2 great-grandsons, Owen and Simon; brother, Howard Nelson of WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his newborn daughter, Diane Marie; brothers, Phillip, Seymour and Harold Nelson; sisters, Dorothy White and Phyllis Graff.
