Albert “Al” Joseph Wichlacz, age 63, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek with Fr. Denis Spitzley as celebrant. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Powers Catholic High School Endowment Fund.
Al was born on December 4, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Lawrence and Eileen (Gatza) Wichlacz. He was a proud graduate of Powers Catholic High School, Class of 1981. Al retired from Diamond Tool in Grand Rapids. He had a gift for lighting up a room with his smile and truly enjoyed socializing with his many friends. Al was an avid sports fan, having played football at Western Michigan University, and was a devoted supporter of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three brothers, Steven (Laurie) Wichlacz, John (Julie Barker) Wichlacz, and Robert (Carolyn) Wichlacz; five nieces and nephews, Matthew (Mary) Wichlacz, Haley (Clay) Rainbolt, Jack Wichlacz, Allison Wichlacz, and Joe Wichlacz. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Sid and Peg Baker family.
