Alice Emily Green of Fenton passed away on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 99 years and four days old. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel - 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.
Born on November 9, 1926, in Iron Mountain, MI, she was the daughter of Clarence E. Johnson and Aileen (Ross) Johnson. Alice graduated from Carman High School and later attended business school. She married Sam Adamo, and together they had three daughters. Alice retired in 1985 after a 25-year career in Research and Development at DuPont Automotive. On September 1, 1987, she married Donald Green, who preceded her in death on April 18, 2010.
Alice spent most of her life in Genesee County, but she also lived in Florida for several years before coming back home to Michigan. She enjoyed her independence and lived alone until the last few weeks of her life. Alice was an avid reader, maintaining an updated list of every book she read. She enjoyed puzzles, golfing, spending time with her kitty, and connecting with her family and friends on Facebook. Alice was a thrifting extraordinaire with a special passion for shopping; her favorite store was Costco. She always had QVC on the television, making sure not to miss a good deal. Alice was proud to be a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine and the Jesterettes.
Alice is survived by her three daughters: Joanne Vath and her late husband, Barry Vath Sr.; Deborah Pobocik and her husband, James; and Gina Serges and her husband, Greg. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Barry Vath Jr. and his wife, Janet; Kristine Shaughnessy and her husband, Matt; Robert Pobocik and his wife, Jennifer; Eric Pobocik and his wife, Catherine DeLeeuw; Greg Serges; Nicholas Serges and his wife, Jennifer; and Sam Serges and his partner, Jennifer Seal. Alice had 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Carol Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Green, her son-in-law, Barry Vath Sr., her great-granddaughter, Abigail Shaughnessy, two sisters, Nina Arrand and Marjorie Soper, and one brother, Greg Johnson. To honor Alice’s wishes, there will be no service, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions can be made in Alice's name to the charity of your choice.
